KARACHI: Entrepreneurship initiatives especially in Information and Technology (IT) are vital for the economic development of Pakistan where creation of job opportunities via small businesses is an important driver for growth and wealth distribution, Moin Fudda, Country Director, Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) said while speaking to a group of IT entrepreneurs, aspiring students and startups on Monday.
Moin Fudda said CIPE’s main focus is to improve the private sector participation in policy reforms of Pakistan. In this regard, he added, CIPE will work with Pakistan Software Houses Association for IT and IT Enabled Services (P@SHA) to develop recommendations through stakeholders’ participation in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad.
The next two events in this series are the event in Lahore on 4th May and in Islamabad on 10th May 2011. P@SHA, and CIPE have initiated a stakeholders’ dialogue entitled “Entrepreneurial Opportunities for Youth in the IT Sector”. The objective of this initiative is to look at the impediments/entry barriers for young entrepreneurs in the IT sector and to determine whether there are any legal/regulatory reforms that are needed to improve entrepreneurial opportunities. staff report
