Sony Ericsson hurriedly made announcements about the launch of its two smartphones in the Asia-Pacific market, so as to make its place in the communication entertainment segment and achieve the highest status in the market of mobile phones featuring Android operating system.
The two phones namely Xperia ray and Xperia active along with the Sony Ericsson txt are expected to arrive in the market during the months from July to September this year. The phones possess the Gingerbread 2.3 Android operating system. The Xperia ray is going to be in a sleek form with a 3.3-inch screen, a 1 GHz processor, Mobile Bravia engine and an 8.1 mega-pixel camera. And Xperia active will be in a compact form, including a 3-inch screen, a 1 GHz processor and a 5-megapixel camera. The company claims the latter one would be dust-proof and water-resistant.
Sony Ericsson txt has been designed for the entry-level market, thus offering QWERTY keyboard, a 2.6-inch screen and an SMS shortcut key for easy and fast messaging, also enabling usage of Facebook and Twitter. As per Sony Ericsson’s Corporate Vice- President and Head of Asia-Pacific region, Matthew Lang, “We see great opportunities in the market for our new products. We have great expectations for active markets such as Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia and India. We need to be No 1 in Android-based mobile phones to be the market leader”.
