Apple revealed in a press release that around 15 billion application downloads had taken from the online iTunes App Store. Apple had given a tough blow to its competitors like Hewlett-Packard and Google in the Android segment.
Philip Schiller, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Worldwide Product Marketing, goes on to note that the App Store has been filled by over 425,000 apps, including 100,000 iPad apps, and 200 million users in 90 countries.
Apple was soon going to launch its Mac OS X Lion, which will consist of a baked-in Mac App Store with access to a variety of full-screen applications for the company’s laptops and desktops. The new development of Apple iOS5 featuring “iMessenger” will be an answer to the RIM’s Blackberry Messenger.
With the launch of the iOS 5, iCloud and Mac OS X Lion, Apple executives revealed that the company had sold more than 200 million iOS devices and occupied some 44 percent of the mobile operating system market.
As per comScore’s prediction, the share prices of Apple in the US smartphone segment had increased from 25.2 %to 26.6 %, during that very time, the Google Android shares had increased from 33% to 38.1%, whereas the Microsoft’s shares declined from 7.7% to 5%.
